NEW YORK, NY (September 1, 2023) — Hemali Phatnani, PhD, Director of the Center for Genomics of Neurodegenerative Disease (CGND) at the New York Genome Center and Assistant Professor at Columbia University, spoke with Target ALS about her involvement with the foundation since its inception, and how their funding has shaped her research experience.
“Target ALS funded my first research project…it was a very ambitious project at the time but it was seed-funding from Target ALS that actually made that whole thing possible. And it has proved very, very helpful to not only our group, but many groups around the world,” said Dr. Phatnani.
Dr. Phatnani and her team were recently awarded a two-year grant from Target ALS for their project titled “Creating a spatial genomics resource for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis-Frontotemporal Dementia (ALS-FTD) neuropathies.”
