The Partnership Fund for NYC is a nonprofit organization with the mission of mobilizing private sector resources and expertise to advance New York City’s standing as a global center of economic opportunity, upward mobility, and innovation. The Partnership Fund was an early investor in the New York Genome Center.

So, one of the most important reasons genomic research needs to be done in New York is because the diversity here reflects the world’s diversity, and, ultimately, that needs to be reflected in genomic science.”
This is a quote from the Partnership for NYC’s recent Portfolio Company Spotlight on the NYGC’s commitment to creating a pipeline of diverse talent in life sciences through its summer internship program. The eight-week cohort was established in 2021 and led by NYGC’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Advisory Group.
The interview goes on to continue discussing the importance of diversity in the genomic datasets used for studies and the Center’s approach to recruiting the young talent who will make these pioneering discoveries.
